Dear Members,
At the outset let me wish all of you a very happy & prosperous Happy New Year 2017.
I am proud to inform viewers that our Society with more than 2000 member doctors engaged in looking after Respiratory Health care of the nation is spearheading awareness drive to educate public at large about various chest diseases through this Public Forum. With advent of information superhighways and growing presence of social media people get information about various health related issues on daily basis but it has its own perils in form of un authenticated views on internet which only help in spreading myths and misinformation sometimes in the minds of patients and people alike. Through this Public Forum Indian Chest Society wishes to present its public face shouldering responsibility to dissipate correct scientific knowledge about various respiratory diseases to the public.
These informative articles are written by experts in the field to guide public to know about their respiratory diseases as we believe that greatest weapon to fight any disease is to have genuine information about the ailment one is suffering from. If you have correct information about your diseases you will be able to take corrective steps to overcome hurdles and challenges you face due to it. With growing urbanization & industrialization comes an environmental health problem which mostly affects your lungs which breathes in this polluted air. Habit of smoking, using biomass fuel for cooking in rural areas, burning mosquito coils in house has lead to India being second in the world in having deaths due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease called COPD, a malady of Lung caused by exposure of these agents. We rank fourth globally in deaths caused by Asthma.Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis is slowly spreading its tentacles and causing havoc in patient’s life. We at Indian Chest Society are together to fight these growing menace and committed to organize periodic patient awareness and educational programmes to promote understanding about the important respiratory diseases. Please do visit this Public Forum on regular basis to know more about these events , new information and articles on Respiratory Health. Let’s join together for a better tomorrow to breathe freely in a sustainable livable environment.
